Nice post Bridget. I helped Lou Reed with his show; the title comes from the boxes with lids in which the books were placed, or hidden, and each containing a visual narrative to be deciphered by the viewer (for the press preview the lids were left open). After his slide show he asked the evidently speechless audience three times if there were any questions, with no takers, hence the brevity. He did say, as the TImes quoted the next day, he did not take the pictures in the show but his soul did: the show was a song in photographs (his as-yet unreleased Taijik Meditation Music, three tracks, accompanies the slide show). The show is available at Vimeo if you wish to review it. Thanks for coming to the festival and for your thoughtful comments. I am glad you enjoyed it. DP

Photography is photography and the only reason people try to make it 'art' is for ego or money. There is nothing wrong with using photography to show the world your inner self, but adding the baggage of 'Art' will only help to blur your viewers vision.

Thank you much for your kind words about my article on Anna. I fear that my use of the English language is not as clear as I would want. I do understand the distinction you have made now that I have heard it. What I was trying to discuss was how Anna in all her work, asks her sitters to respond to stimulus but in a way that is emotionally rather than actually manipulative.

As the hypnotherapist who worked with
Anna Linderstam --I enjoyed your article--
but wish point out that your comment that
'the sitters could be MANIPULATED (my capitals) into a
physical response by the power of suggestion.'
---is not what is going on. You cannot force
anyone in hypnosis to act against their will-
   Hence the sitters responded voluntarily-
   to the suggestions--(without manipulation.)
     Cheers

Hello,

I've just discovered mister Bulmer's work, and I'd have liked to know if there was a book of his work being published somewhere. Too bad I wasn't in Hereford, I would have really love to see his pics big size..
Thanks a lot,
Felix (France).

..bums on seats no doubt - excuse the pun..i agree with you, but im sure the npg will pull in the pink pound..ive not seen the show, but i saw the catelogue..
it is uninspiring and pedestrian in its edits. for me a reflection as to how photography is viewed here, and its lack of visibility, as compared to other European capitals. also, as with most things queer - it is never about quality
